Job purpose
The Data Engineer II will develop, deploy and maintain the data pipelines used by the Data team within the Data Warehouse. This can range from straightforward extraction, transform and load [ETL] from existing production databases to more complex deployment of novel algorithms and features. They will work across a range of teams (Data Science, Data Analytics, DevOps, Software, etc) to ensure accurate, efficient and robust data infrastructure to support clinical and business needs.
Duties and responsibilities
- Build & maintain data pipelines into (& within) the Data Warehouse. Ensuring all code is rigorously tested and documented.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating the Data Infrastructure to ensure optimal performance & uptime. Identify and implement improvements to ensure performance meets the wider team’s needs.
- Work with other members of the Data team to implement and deploy new algorithms and features to the Data Warehouse
- Identify, document and release bug fixes for deficiencies identified.
- Ensure the highest levels of confidentiality and sensitivity for dealing with Patient Health Information [PHI]
Qualifications
- 2+ years' experience in Data Engineering, DevOps or Software Development
- Programming experience/skills (Python & SQL required)
- Hands-on knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS EC2, S3, Lambda, etc.)
- Evidence of strong understanding of databases, ETL and data structures
- Occasional travel required.
Education
- Bachelors' degree required, Masters' degree preferred in Data Engineering, Software Development, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent technical discipline.
